Through the focused development of literacy and school readiness, we believe all children of Lubbock deserve the finest care and highest quality education. The YWCA offers twenty-eight early learning classrooms with the primary focus of preparing children for kindergarten and school readiness.
All our infant/toddler teachers have their CDA (Child Development Associates). All pre-school teachers have an Associates or Bachelor’s degree in Early Education and significant training in the special needs of early childhood and the impact of high-risk factors in the home and family. There is frequent interaction with parents and an emphasis on helping parents develop strategies to support each child’s specific needs. Our curriculum is the Frog Street Curriculum, a comprehensive pre-kindergarten curriculum. In conjunction with this, the classroom learning framework matches up with the Pre-K guidelines for the State of Texas. This includes:
Ages 6 weeks to 1 year
Ages 1 to 3 years
Ages 3 – 5 years
